Moonbin was born on January 26, 1998 in Cheongju, South Korea. He started his career as a child actor and model, appearing in various dramas, commercials and magazines. He made his acting debut in 2009 in the hit drama Boys Over Flowers, playing the younger version of So Yi-jung. He also starred in other dramas such as Good Doctor, Persevere Goo Hae-ra and Moment at Eighteen.

In 2016, he debuted as a vocalist and the lead dancer of Astro, a six-member boy group under Fantagio Music. They also embarked on their first world tour in 2023, called Diffusion, which was cut short by Moonbin's sudden death.

Moonbin was not only a talented artist, but also a loving brother, son and friend. He had a close relationship with his sister Moon Sua, who is also a K-pop singer in the girl group Billlie. He was also a caring and supportive leader to his fellow Astro members, who considered him as their family. He had a warm and cheerful personality that brightened up any room he entered. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs. He enjoyed playing video games, watching movies and reading books.
